.....................................................................................................................................................................................

An Open Day in September for Newark school children focused on food. Children "guessed that veg" tasted a variety of raw vegeta bles, made "vegetable mon sters" took part in photog raphy and drama work shops and helped to paint a banner to promote future open days.

Apple Day in October attracted more eager pupils including a group from the Newark Orchard School. Activities included plant ing apple trees, tasting a variety of apples, and listening to a pro fessional story teller.

Both days were great fun, and great educational value too. Thank you to Hawton Road plot holders for their patience and generosity, to artists Claire Simpson, Laura Hill, Denise Marshall and Joy. To Caro line Adams (Newark A Sher wood District Council), Ma- rika Tribe (Newark Town Council), Robbie Windsor Beck ( Grove School ), Joan Cottee and plot holders Derek Drury and David Seabrook.
