Big Lottery Update
Reaching Communities
It was stressed that the most important aspect of these bids must be to demonstrate that the need for the project is coming from the community and not from the organisation, and therefore their must be clear evidence of community consultation. The project must address what the community needs and wants.
Emphasis should be on
1. The local need
2. How the project will address them
3. How the project fits with local plans and strategies
Also it was stressed that projects will be assessed on their long term sustainability. This fund is seen as the continuation of the community fund, and many of the applicants will be those who have previously had community fund money. Projects will be assessed on their exit strategy/sustainability after the 5 year funding period (and can be read that projects will be unlikely to gain more lottery funding after this period).
Awards for All
The new Awards for All will be launched in April. The amount available has increased from £5000 to £10,000 however if you ask for £10,000 then this will be given over a two year period. Referees also will need to come from a list of approved referees.
We can next officially make a bid in August 06.
Community Buildings
This will now be launched in April. Applications must demonstrate a high level of community use, with lots of different projects using the building.
They have £50million over 3 years
Will probably require match funding.
Parks For People
Will be launched in Summer 06. For historic and Victorian park restoration.
Changing Spaces
Apparently will now be launched in the summer though think this might still be optimistic!
Healthy Well-being/Lifestyles
This will now be launched a month late in April. They will as part of this is looking for organisations to come forward with a portfolio of projects that address the 3 targets of
1. Mental Health
2. Physical Activity
3. Healthy Eating
